2002: FREDERICIA SUBSIDIARY MOBILI LAUNCHES STINGRAY
After seeing young Danish Designer Thomas Pedersen’s final exam project, Stingray, at an exhibition for graduates of the Aarhus school of Design, Fredericia launched a sub-brand called Mobili, aimed at younger consumers. The sub-brand found limited success and the strategy was revised to concentrate on Fredericia’s core collection.
2004: MICADO BY CECILIE MANZ
Fredericia launched the Micado Table by the young designer Cecilie Manz in 2004 for the Cabinetmaker’s Autumn Exhibition (SE) in Copenhagen. Manz and Fredericia received the Danish Design Prize from Danish Design Center for the unique design which was self supporting without the use of hardware.
2007: WOODEN STINGRAY
Utilising the world’s largest 3D veneer press, the Stingray was launched in a wooden version that won the Danish Design Prize, the Red Dot award, and many others.
2008:
FREDERICIA OPENS SHOWROOM IN JAPAN
A long history of Japanese appreciation for Børge Mogensen and Danish design led to the opening of Fredericia’s first showroom outside of Scandinavia. The showroom, located in the Tokyo Design Centre, showcases the entire Mogensen Select Collection, along with latest models.
2008: AKI BY ALFREDO HÄBERLI
Alfredo Häberli created the Aki collection for Fredericia. By twisting the legs 90 degrees, Häberli created an unexpected twist to traditional upholstered wooden dining chairs.
2009: NARA BY SHIN AZUMI
After analysing chairs by Mogensen, Wegner, Jacobsen and Ditzel, Shin Azumi designs the Nara Chair, with the intention to create maximum comfort and ergonomic design from a minimal structure. Nara pays tribute to traditional Danish design while at the same time creating a new aesthetic language of its own.
