Model 2226 - By Børge Mogensen
The Spanish Chair
The iconic Spanish Chair is Børge Mogensen’s masterful contribution to modern design, designed for Fredericia in 1958. Solid oak or walnut combined with the highest calibre saddle leather creates a strong presence in a chair that will only become more beautiful with age.
The Spanish Collection comes in different variations.
Creating The Spanish Chair
Andalucia was the backdrop of inspiration for The Spanish Chair. While travelling through Spain, Mogensen observed an ornate chair with wide armrests, a traditional style involving Spain’s medieval furniture construction. Mogensen modernised the design and expanded upon his work with solid oak and saddle leather. The result is the essence of an idea expressed in a look that’s timeless in appeal – and original. Simple steps to make your Spanish Chair last for generations
Wipe with a clean, dry cloth. We do not recommend using wet cloths on oiled surfaces if this can be avoided. For stains that cannot be removed with a dry cloth, use a soft cloth dampened with clean water and wrung out.
Oiled wood surfaces must be maintained regularly with the application of a thin layer of oil.
At Fredericia, we strive to continue our heritage of purposeful and sustainable design, creating modern originals that encourage human well-being wherever people live, work or relax.
The saddle leather used for The Spanish Collection is tanned and tailored in Sweden at the tannery, and saddle-makers Tärnsjö Garveri, one of the remaining 5% of tanning houses worldwide preserving this organic tanning method for the next generations.
Foam free comfort
The leather used in this chair offers a comfortable seat, as a plastic-free alternative to polyurethane foams.
Crafted to last
Fredericia offers an extended warranty of 25 years on this product. It is our way of committing to delivering a design that is crafted to last.
