Fløirestauranten

At the top of Fløyen mountain, in Norway's second-largest city, Bergen lies Fløirestauranten. With its iconic setting, guests experience a magnificent panoramic view of the open sea and the surrounding islands and are brought closer to nature through local craftsmanship, fresh ingredients, and subtle flavour experiences.

Designed nearly 100 years ago by Norwegian architect Einar Oscar Schou, the restaurant's distinctive profile was inspired by the Norwegian folk tale "Soria Moria Castle". Schou's architectural style, characterised by yellow ochre and simple geometric ornamentation, defines the restaurant's unique expression.

Fløirestauranten is considered one of Schou's most recognised architectural achievements in his later career. Recently, it underwent an extensive renovation that respected its history and original design. Central to this process was Schou's classic approach to style, where old meets new. He also designed a significant part of the restaurant's interior, including lamps, fixtures, and furniture.

The restaurant is divided into several oases, creating a down-to-earth and relaxed atmosphere. As guests move through the different rooms, they can explore a unique blend of past and present. In the lounge area, you experience an intimate and homely atmosphere, framed by Haiku sofas designed by the Danish-Italian duo GamFratesi, alongside Hugo Passos' elegant Calmo sofas, whose simple lines enhance the serene ambiance. They add an exclusive touch with Space Copenhagen's Spine Lounge chairs, while the color palette, kept in calm and muted tones, supports the relaxed feel of the space.
